At Whispering Sage, we’re more than a home — we’re a family. Whether it’s through our personalized care plans, enriching activities, or the nurturing relationships formed with caregivers, we strive to ensure that each resident feels at home and part of a vibrant, caring community.

The Heart Behind Whispering Sage
Whispering Sage was born from a deeply personal mission to create something different.
Ellen’s vision is shaped by her cultural roots, where caring for aging parents at home is a tradition grounded in love and dignity. With over 20 years of experience running a trusted, home-based childcare program, she brings the same heart and credibility into the creation of Whispering Sage – a true home for seniors, where the richness of a life lived is never forgotten, dignity is preserved, and comfort is thoughtfully prioritized.
Her husband and co-founder, Bryan, is a Doctor of Nursing Practice and seasoned Nurse Practitioner. After nearly two decades in critical care and hospital settings – and his years of working closely with seniors have inspired him to create a more meaningful impact – to help ensure that those in the final stage of life receive the highest quality of care, dignity, and daily joy.
Together, Ellen and Bryan are creating a place that reflects everything they believe in. Whispering Sage is not just a project – it’s a promise to build a memory care home where every resident is cherished like family, and where they can spend the rest of their lives not feeling lost – but feeling safe, connected, and truly at home.
Our Inspiration
Ellen’s perspective is shaped by her cultural background and her upbringing in a culture where elderly parents are lovingly cared for by their children. She wants to recreate this warm and compassionate environment and avoid the impersonal, often lonely reality of many American nursing homes. Ellen is committed to ensuring that seniors live in an environment filled with warmth and dignity, reflecting the respect and care she believes every elder deserves.
Bryan McCullough is driven by a deep sense of care and compassion. He holds a Doctor in Nursing Practice (DNP) and serves as a hospitalist NP at Winchester Hospital. With 18 years of experience as a critical care nurse in the emergency room and additional experience as an NP in a large, assisted living home, Bryan is well-versed in the needs of the elderly. His critical thinking, compassion, empathy, leadership, effective communication, and professionalism make him an invaluable asset to our home. Convinced he can contribute to meaningful change, Bryan is driven by a personal mission to improve these conditions. He also has aging parents who may soon require more assistance, making this endeavor deeply personal and a true calling for change.
Together, Ellen and Bryan are committed to creating an assisted living home that feels like a true home. They envision a place where residents are cared for by compassionate caregivers who treat them with respect and love. Their home will be clean, safe, and filled with the smells of fresh meals, giving families peace of mind knowing their loved ones are in good hands.
Our Mission & Vision
A Home Where Compassion and Dignity Thrive
Our mission is to create a warm, home-like memory care environment where older adults can live with dignity, love, and connection—supported by compassionate caregivers. We envision a future where seniors with memory loss feel seen, safe, and truly at home, right up to the final chapter of life.

Redefining Senior Care with Heart and Community
Our home will be designed to feel familiar, peaceful, and calm—with soft natural light, cozy furniture, and the little sensory details that evoke comfort and memory: the smell of baked goods in the kitchen, the sound of classic tunes in the background, and gardens that invite residents outside.
Residents will live at their own pace, with support and gentle reminders as needed to stay engaged, nourished, and connected. They’ll enjoy activities that spark joy, music they recognize, meals they love, and companionship that brings warmth to their days.

Where will the home be located?
We are in the process of selecting the perfect location – one that offers comfort and accessibility to families.
What makes Whispering Sage different from other memory care facilities?
Whispering Sage is being purpose-built as a real home – not a wing of a facility. With only 16 private bedrooms, a 1:6 caregiver-to-resident ratio, and personalized end-of-life support, our goal is to create a place where care feels deeply personal and comforting.
Will you accept residents with Alzheimer’s or advanced dementia?
Yes. Whispering Sage will specialize in memory care, including support for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Our caregivers will be specifically trained to provide compassionate, 24/7 support.
Can I reserve a spot or join a waitlist?
While we are not accepting residents yet, you can join our interest list to receive updates, including when applications and tours will begin.
Will medical care be provided onsite?
We are not a medical facility, but residents will have access to visiting healthcare providers. Our trained caregivers will assist with medication, wellness monitoring, and coordination of care.
How do I know this project is being developed by the right team?
Whispering Sage is independently owned—but we’re not doing this alone. We are members of the Residential Assisted Living Academy’s Inner Circle (https://residentialassistedlivingacademy.com), where we receive direct coaching and support from top national experts. We’ve also partnered with Brett and Laura Chotkevys, founders of Platinum Resort Assisted Living & Memory Care and creators of the Assisted Living Mansion model (https://www.assistedlivingmansion.com/about-us). Their support brings construction expertise, building plans, and operational systems to help us bring this vision to life.
